Welcome to the Bridge Load Rating Program!

There are approximately 4,000 local bridges in Michigan that require load rating or review of existing ratings. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) created a prioritization schedule that organizes bridges requiring load rating into three tiers. The bridges in these tiers must be load rated by the end of 2012, 2014, and 2016 respectively.

The Center for Technology and Training has been contracted by MDOT to establish the Bridge Load Rating Program. The program provides training and support to help Michigan local agencies and their consultants evaluate their bridges.

The Bridge Load Rating Program serves local Michigan agencies and their consultants with the support and training necessary to ensure success in meeting the requirements of the new bridge load rating program. This support is offered through training, technical support for AASHTOWare Bridge Rating software, and engineering technical assistance. AASHTOWare Bridge Rating is available to local agencies and their consultants free of charge (courtesy of MDOT) for use on Michigan bridges.
